Profile and Credentials

Kristine Kaoverii Weber, MA, LMBT, RYT500 has been studying yoga since 1989 in India as well as the U.S., and teaching since 1996. She is the director of the Subtle Yoga Teacher Training Program. Kaoverii weaves various aspects of the ancient philosophy of yoga into her classes to help students realize their physical, mental/emotional and spiritual potential.

Kaoverii's Ananda Marga yoga training is enhanced by her knowledge of Viniyoga, Iyengar and Anusara techniques. Her bodywork and acupressure therapy training is evidenced in her ability to assist students in discovering optimal form, alignment and prana (energy) flow in their practice. Kaoverii encourages participants to connect with the deepest part of themselves and to carry that experience into daily life.

In addition to teaching in health clubs and private yoga studios, she has extensive experience working with the elderly and wheelchair bound. Kaoverii teaches regular workshops throughout the region. She has a broad knowledge of yoga practice and philosophy and has the rare ability to make difficult concepts easily understood. She is also a shiatsu practitioner and the author of Healing Self-Massage. She lives with her husband Bhavesh and son Bhaerava in Asheville, North Carolina.

Philosophy and Comments

Subtle Yoga focuses on deepening awareness when learning and practicing various yoga techniques. Here, the quality of awareness brought to the practice is as important as learning the techniques. Subtle Yoga is about going beyond instinctual and intellectual ways of knowing about yoga in order to understand and practice from a deeper part of the self.

It is about connecting with this deeper self and allowing inner wisdom and knowing to overflow from your practice into your daily life.

Subtle Yoga is not the same thing as gentle yoga.

Workshops

Chakra Yoga Workshops

Kaoverii teaches Chakra Yoga workshops and teacher trainings throughout the southeast.

Chakra Yoga is a profound yoga practice. Specific asanas, performed with special breathing, can help correct imbalances in the chakra system and create more harmony between the chakras. Why focus the yoga practice on the chakras?

Because chakras are the key to emotional well-being and spiritual elevation.

Chakras are physical, psycho-emotional and spiritual centers which emanate from the spine and correspond with aspects of the lymphatic, hormonal and nervous systems. “Chakra” is a Sanskrit word which means “wheel.” The ancient yogis identified seven main chakras and realized that when they could control their chakras, they could find mental/emotional balance and inner peace.

Understanding the functioning of the chakras and using yoga to harmonize them will help you overcome challenging postural, emotional and thought patterns.Kaoverii teaches several other workshops including "A Day in the Life of a Yogi" which describes a wide range of yogic practices, "Experiencing Bhakti" an exploration into the path of devotion, "Yoga Therapy" or how to use asanas to heal various illnesses, and "Yama and Niyama" which is an experiential journey in the practical application of these first two limbs of classical yoga. Kaoverii also teaches an Introduction to Sanskrit workshop and a History of Yoga workshop.
